Steel & Co. Helps Brainwave Open New Charity Shop in Historic Lowestoft Building

We at Steel & Co. are excited to share the successful leasing and opening of a new charity shop for Brainwave in the heart of Lowestoft town centre. This marks a significant milestone in our mission to support local initiatives and revitalise our community's commercial spaces.

Brainwave, a charity devoted to aiding individuals with brain injuries and related disabilities, has relocated to a historic site at 38 London Road North. This distinguished 283sq m commercial unit, dating back to 1836, had been vacant for several years before Brainwave breathed new life into it with a grand opening this Monday.

The relocation from London Road South to the larger, more central location—formerly home to Ruckus MMA and Fitness Gym and the In Time clothes shop—represents a pivotal development for Brainwave. This move was powered by an intensive renovation effort over the last few weeks, transforming the space into a spectacular two-floor charity shop that offers clothes, shoes, handbags, bric-a-brac, and much more. The efforts of the team and the community have truly paid off, creating a vibrant new hub that will support local people with brain injuries and disabilities.

Gary Knights, Head of Trustees and general manager at Brainwave expressed his enthusiasm for the new location: "It was absolutely perfect to have the service users cutting the ribbon. We are getting more and more people becoming aware of the charity through the events we do and reaching out to us." His vision for Brainwave's growth includes potential expansion with another shop in north Lowestoft that will feature furniture upcycled by the service users.

At Steel & Co., we take pride in our strategic property management and our role in facilitating such positive changes within our community. The successful leasing of this prominent building to Brainwave is a testament to our commitment to nurturing and enhancing the commercial landscape of Lowestoft. We believe that real estate is more than just buildings; it's about fostering community connections and creating spaces where people can thrive.

We congratulate Brainwave on their new shop and look forward to their continued success and expansion. We are pleased to support Brainwave and other organisations that make such vital contributions to our community.
